The game of Bingo originated from Italy where its name was “Beano”, and was played in country fairs. They used a caller to draw the discs from a cigar box. As the caller called out numbers, the players would be marking them on their cards using beans. They were to use the numbers to make a particular row or column and the first one to succeed would shout a loud “Beano” to effectively stop the game and be declared the winner.
