When discussing sports betting tips, I simply have to talk about halftime bets. They are a different kind of wager than the regular straight bet. Bets placed during halftime let you place a bet based on what will happen in the 2nd half of the game. This might be an advantage to your typical sports bettor if you are able to consider the different scenarios that could anticipate how your team will come out after changing things up during halftime. I’ll use a couple of examples to help you understand this type of bet.
In order to take proper advantage of a half time bet is to pay attention to the predictors in the first half of the game. Take notice of players who are getting tired, look at the defenders – are they shutting down their opposition? All of these factors are important considerations when planning to make a second half bet.
Average Joe Gambler will also be able to benefit greatly by understanding the team in which they are putting their money on. Knowing which coach is able to come up with a game plan at halftime based on weaknesses of who they are playing makes a huge difference in a team being considered “a good second half team.” In addition, there are teams that have evident tendencies throughout the year that you should pay attention to.
If you look at box scores and statistics during the regular season you will notice which teams are passionate and will be able to come out strong if they happen to be behind at the start of the second half. On the other hand, you will also know which ones tend to show up tough at half time, and then let up in the 3rd and 4th quarters. These things should always factor in to how you place your bets.
More sports betting tips include that the advantage in second half betting is the ability to middle. Middling is betting, presumably on two different sports books, on different lines that are put out. With so many games going on at one time, oddsmakers have little time to take all factors into consideration when making their spreads. A key to this is getting the lines as soon as they are put out (when the half ends) because the line will move based on where all the action is going.
Let’s say that you see one sportsbook has a line of minus 3 on a team and another bookie has the spread at minus 7, this is the perfect chance to middle a bet. You can put your cash on the side that is minus 4, then the same amount of money will go on the team that is plus 7. You will have the odds in your favor for you to break even, or actually win both wagers. Keep this in mind, but you still have to look at the entire game as a whole entity and consider other important factors.
I can’t finish this article by letting you think that half time wagers are a sure thing. You have to always be alert for what sports bettors call “traps.” As in, if a line looks to good to be true, then it probably is. The bookies like to make lines that are more appealing to the public, so they’ll get more action on 1 side.
To the point, as a sports bettor you have to be on alert for the crucial ingredients of the team you are wagering on. By reviewing the trends and traits of the team, you will get a solid clue of how they might play and you can then make your best decision based on facts.
